Eating AVOCADOS May Support Skin Health

  • Avocados, Hydration and Skin Health!
    • 72% of an Avacado’s weight is from water!
    • Hydration ensures our body functions properly.  Inadequate fluid intake will present with dry skin and poor skin elasticity.  Without skin elasticity, our skin will not change and return to shape as well.
    • Eating Avocados and other fruits and veggies with high water content can help us hydrate.
  • Avocados have Vitamin E, C and lots of healthy Monounsaturated fats
    • Vitamin E and C function as antioxidants to protect your skin.
    • Monounsaturated fats help maintain the water level in the outer surface of your skin and supply ceramides which are the fats and lipids that actually build the other layer of the skin.
  • An Avocado Clinical Study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology
    • The study examined skin health and avocado intake in 39 women age 27-73 years old.  The 39 women were randomly assigned to either a one avocado daily group or a control group who ate their normal diet.
    • After eight weeks, the women who ate avocados had significant increases in firmness and elasticity in their forehead skin.
